UR Delver: Making a splash? Empty UR Delver: Making a splash?

Hello! I'm not from Tracy, but I'm a friend of Nate so hopefully that'll keep me from getting banned for my nonresidency, hehe.

UR Delver seems to be making a little splash in tournaments as of late. It hasn't been dominating, but I like the colors and I think it could do really well. Here's a list I created after drawing a bit of inspiration from Lu Cai, Durward, and some user-made lists, hehe:

Lands
4 Sulfur Falls
9 Island
9 Mountain

Creatures
4 Delver of Secrets
4 Snapcaster Mage
3 Chandra's Phoenix

Spells
4 Galvanic Blast
4 Incinerate
4 Brimstone Volley
3 Ponder
3 Think Twice
4 Mana Leak
2 Vapor Snag
2 Shrine of Burning Rage
1 Act of Aggression

Sideboard
1 Chandra's Phoenix
1 Act of Aggression
2 Shrine of Burning Rage
3 Arc Trail
2 Manic Vandal
2 Flashfreeze
3 Dismember
1 Negate

Let me know what y'all think!

Looks legit! Is this who I think it is? Haha

Also, AngryJason, Grim Lavamancer and Snapcaster Mage do not work well together :/ a deck needs to focus on one or the other in my opinion....

Awesome! Thank you, hehe. I can't wait to finish getting the pieces to play it.

Yeah, there seems to be a lack of synergy between those two, so I decided to remove the Grim Lavamancers. I've gone a bit creature-light in comparison to Lu Cai's (which runs 2 Grim Lavamancers and 2 Stromkirk in addition to the phoenix, snapcaster, and delver) in hopes of flipping delver more consistently.

Also, I've made the following changes to the sideboard:
-2 Manic Vandal
+2 Ancient Grudge

Primarily because Ancient Grudge is an instant and can help flip Delver.

Sweet! I watched those videos of him playing that deck. It is really quick! How've your matchups been? I've always had a bit of dislike towards the Phantasmal Dragon because of how easily he can be removed, what're your thoughts?

after putting down solar flare for the next two weeks, i figure ima work on this deck or wolf run ramp. so my intial model of the deck is like this:

creatures: 15
4 delver of secrets
4 snapcaster mage
2 grim lavamancer
3 chandra's phoniex
2 stormkirk noble

planeswalkers: 1
1 chandra the firebrand

spells: 22
4 brimstone volley
4 mana leak
4 incentrate
4 ponder
4 shock
2 vapor snag

land: 22
4 sulfer falls
9 island
9 mountains

seems ok, ill be testing this and the mono-blue version. the deck seem legit at least as a tier 2 deck and has some weapons that i could see it being able to fight off some of the tier 1 decks

Sweet! I dig it, man. How's Chandra the Firebrand been workin' for ya? I've never really used her before.

Well, a third place finish at SCG St. Louis ain't bad at all! Here's the list that Kyle Zimmermann used to get there!

Maindeck:

Artifacts
2 Druidic Satchel

Creatures
3 Chandra's Phoenix
4 Delver of Secrets
3 Grim Lavamancer
4 Snapcaster Mage

Instants
3 Brimstone Volley
3 Desperate Ravings
4 Gut Shot
2 Incinerate
4 Mana Leak
2 Psychic Barrier

Sorceries
4 Ponder

Basic Lands
10 Island
4 Mountain

Lands
4 Copperline Gorge
4 Sulfur Falls

Sideboard:
1 Bonehoard
2 Moltensteel Dragon
2 Spellskite
2 Ancient Grudge
3 Flashfreeze
2 Mental Misstep
1 Negate
2 Arc Trail

Thoughts? I find the Druidic Satchel inclusion very interesting.

UR Delver: Making a splash? Empty Evloving delver....

Post  Scorched13 Mon May 28, 2012 9:27 am

I have recently made a change to delver.... my Red/Blue delver list is as fallows....

4 Delver of Secrets
4 Snapcaster Mage

4 Gutshot (for the mirror and helps early game against agro)
4 Gitaxan Probe
4 Mana Leak
2 Dissipate
2 Bonfire of the Damned (helps against agro)
3 Think Twice (puts you ahead in certain match-ups)
2 Sword of War and Peace (it is just a beating)
2 Rune-chanters Pike
4 Vapor Snag
4 Ponder

4 Ghost Quarter (defense against Cavern of Souls, Inkmoth Nexus, Wolfrun, etc.)
4 Sulfur Falls
9 Island
4 Mountain

SB
2 Sword of Feast and Famine (in against Control and the pro green gives an edge against wolfrun)
2 Surgical Extraction (also for Control)
3 Phyrexian Metamorph (in against Wolfrun and better than Phantasmal image due to copying your artifacts)
2 Slagstorm (working on replacing with Bonefire, and these 2 spots are dedicated to Board wipes, Bonefire works better with Snapcaster)
2 Dissipate (for when you need more counterspells)
1 Negate (also for extra counter)
1 Into the Core (helps against heavy artifact decks)
1 Think Twice (when extra draw is helpful)
1 Batterskull (I use this against decks not running red or green mainly)
